Jackpot: Las Vegas Player Wins $12.1M on Megabucks Slot

A California woman won well over $12 million on a Megabucks slot machine at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The lucky player, who asked not to be named, landed the massive slot jackpot while playing the Megabucks Spitfire Multipliers Triple Red Hot 7s, according to a November 2nd post on X (formerly Twitter) by International Gaming Technology (IGT).

The win is the second-largest Vegas payout by the IGT slot this year, bringing the total number of Megabucks jackpots won so far in Nevada casinos in 2023 to four.

The Jackpot Winner Wishes to Remain Anonymous

As of writing, the identity of the most recent Megabucks jackpot winner has yet to be made public. As is typical with major slot jackpot wins in Las Vegas, the player opted to claim their payout anonymously; all that is known is that she is a woman from California.

Nonetheless, the details of her massive win have sent waves of excitement through the gaming industry, especially in Las Vegas. She made the lucky spin on Saturday, October 18th, while playing the viral Megabucks Spitfire Multipliers Triple Red Hot 7s slot machine at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

According to IGT, she landed a staggering payout of $12,185,766.40 when three red sevens aligned on the pay line. It comes as no surprise, given that Megabucks is one of Nevada’s most popular progressive jackpot slot machines.

Las Vegas casinos are no strangers to producing multimillion-dollar jackpots. Over the years, the progressive slot machine has made countless dreams a reality, turning ordinary Vegas visitors into instant millionaires. In fact, bettors in Sin City won well over $1 million in jackpots for just a week.

Corey Hughes, the GM of Excalibur, congratulated the anonymous winner of the $12.1 million Megabucks jackpot, emphasizing that the casino is delighted to have facilitated the transformative payout. He highlighted that such winning moments are why guests keep returning to Excalibur for more slot fun.

The casino also said the winner will receive the jackpot in annual installments over 25 years, per IGT’s Megabucks payout rules.

Nevada’s Second-Largest Megabucks Jackpot Win in 2023

The $12.1 million jackpot win continues what has been an exceptionally lucky year for Megabucks slot machine players in Nevada. The recent win at Excalibur marks the second-largest Megabucks jackpot in Nevada so far in 2023, following a massive payout in Reno earlier this year.

In April, the city of Reno registered its largest jackpot ever when an anonymous player won $14 million on a Megabucks slot machine at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The woman, also from California, hit the historic jackpot off a $10 bet after playing Megabucks Mega Vault for 40 minutes, as reported by Fox5 Las Vegas.

Unilad reports that a Las Vegas resident called Jesús won $10.5 million in July with a $40 bet on Megabucks at the Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas. A month later, A California visitor bagged a $10.1 million jackpot at the ARIA Resort & Casino with a $5 bet on a Megabucks Gold Forge slot machine.

A Season of Big Wins across Las Vegas Valley

While the Excalibur jackpot was the biggest slot win of October, it was not the only major payout at casinos across the Las Vegas Valley. IGT confirmed that their iconic slot game has awarded a jackpot worth more than a million dollars for the third time this year in this area.

Bettors at Mandalay Bay, also owned by MGM Resorts International, won over $14.5 million in slot jackpots in October alone. The winners included a California guest who won $264,697 playing a Dragon Link slot machine at the property.

On October 19th, only a day later, a Las Vegas local Charmaine Maillet hit it big with a $91,000 payout playing a bingo game at Rampart Casino within JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa. The same day, an unidentified player won $264,697 at The Linq Hotel + Experience with a royal flush hand playing video poker.

A veteran race car driver, Christy Georges-Barnett, also won $1.184 million on a slot machine at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. The 63-year-old, who races USRA super trucks, won over a million off of a $25 bet, according to a TMZ report. These recent jackpots continue the trend of big slot wins across Nevada in 2023 and beyond.

The Unrelenting Appeal of Megabucks Slot Machines

Megabucks slots were launched in 1987 and became one of the earliest multi-site progressive slot machine networks in the U.S. Over the past 35 years, it has created more than just millionaires. With the largest Megabucks jackpot exceeding $39 million, a handful of winners have taken home tens of millions.

Today, Megabucks is made up of a network of modern video slot machines linked across Nevada casinos. The progressive jackpot starts at $10 million and grows with every spin until someone wins it.

The odds of winning the Megabucks’ grand payout are estimated to be a little shy of one in fifty million. While that might seem enormous, Megabucks slot machines are available in nearly every casino in Nevada, and they are usually located near the entrances or in prominent areas of the casino floor.

They can also be found in various states, such as California, Oregon, and Mississippi, but these slot machines are not linked to the Nevada network. Since its launch, Megabucks has paid out more than a billion dollars in jackpots.

Wrapping Up

A woman from California won over $12 million on a Megabucks slot machine at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, marking the second-largest Megabucks jackpot win in Nevada in 2023. The lucky bettor, who has asked to remain anonymous, will get paid in annual installments over 25 years. The massive payout is a reminder of the captivating allure of Las Vegas, where fortunes and lives can be changed in an instant.
