Venetian Las Vegas Announces $1.5 Billion Facelift

Competition in Las Vegas is the fiercest in the gambling industry. With countless resorts and casinos vying for attention, maintaining relevance and luxury over the years is no small feat. The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, however, has not only stood the test of time but has consistently set new standards for opulence and innovation.

As it celebrates its 25th anniversary, The Venetian has embarked on the largest and most expensive hotel renovation in history, a testament to its lasting legacy and continued commitment to excellence.

A Legacy of Luxury and Innovation

The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, inspired by the romantic Italian city of Venice, opened its doors in 1999. From its start, The Venetian has been synonymous with extravagance and grandeur, offering guests an experience that combines the elegance of Old-World Europe with the excitement and glamour of Las Vegas.

The resort’s iconic canals, complete with gondolas and singing gondoliers, along with its intricate architecture and lavish interiors, have made it a beloved destination for travelers from all corners of the world.

Over the past 25 years, The Venetian has continuously evolved, adding new attractions, expanding its offerings, and maintaining its status as a premier destination on the Las Vegas Strip. The resort’s commitment to providing unparalleled guest experiences has earned it numerous awards and accolades, cementing its place as a cornerstone of Las Vegas luxury.

The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas is set to undergo a significant $1.5 billion renovation, marking the largest and most expensive upgrade in its 25-year history. This extensive overhaul includes a comprehensive rebranding of the resort’s 4,000 suites and its convention center.

Patrick Nichols, President and CEO of The Venetian Resort, emphasized the importance of the renovation in a recent statement. “The Venetian Resort’s innovative spirit has significantly influenced Las Vegas over the past 25 years. Our visionary $1.5 billion reinvestment reflects this legacy,” he said.

As the centerpiece of this $1.5 billion project, the complete redesign of the resort’s hotel suites will ensure that the Venetian maintains the standard it has come to be associated with on The Strip. Starting in September 2024, all 4,000 suites in The Venetian towers will be updated.

The new suite designs draw inspiration from the vibrant costumes of the Venetian Carnival, aiming to bring a blend of energy, spirit, and warmth through a contemporary and fresh aesthetic. These revamped suites will be available for guests starting this September.

In addition to the suite updates, $188 million will be allocated to renovate the convention center. This will include introducing a new color palette and luxurious lounge areas, with the redesign process beginning in the summer.

Not too long ago, The Venetian Resort also announced that its extensive renovation will also include a new poker room. This addition will expand the room from 35 tables to 50, housed in a new 14,000-square-foot space.

The upgraded poker room will feature a dedicated live streaming area, which Venetian officials believe will “push the boundaries of modern poker forward.” The new poker room is expected to open this summer.

The resort is also planning to introduce new dining options. The renovation will introduce new chef-led culinary concepts and additional entertainment options. Gaming areas will be revamped, including enhancements to The Palazzo High Limit Lounge and a fully redesigned sportsbook, thanks to a multi-year naming rights partnership with Yahoo.

Currently, The Venetian is operated by Apollo Global Management, which continues to uphold its promise to enhance the guest experience through these substantial investments. This comprehensive overhaul will no doubt help The Venetian maintain its status as a premier destination on the Las Vegas Strip.

Why Undertake Such a Monumental Renovation?

In a city where new and flashy attractions emerge regularly, staying relevant is a constant challenge. The decision to undertake such a significant renovation project reflects The Venetian’s dedication to not just maintaining, but elevating, its guest experience. Here are a few reasons why The Venetian chose to embark on this ambitious venture:

Staying Competitive:

Las Vegas is home to some of the most luxurious and innovative hotels in the world. To stay ahead in such a competitive market, The Venetian needs to continually refresh and upgrade its offerings. This renovation ensures that the resort remains at the forefront of luxury hospitality.

Boosting Guest Experiences:

The Venetian’s success is built on its reputation for providing extraordinary guest experiences. By renovating its facilities, the resort can introduce new amenities, modernize its rooms and public spaces, and incorporate the latest in hospitality technology, all of which contribute to an enhanced guest experience.

The Venetian needs to meet evolving expectations:

Today’s travelers have higher expectations than ever before. They seek unique, personalized experiences and high-quality accommodations. The renovation allows The Venetian to meet and exceed these expectations, attracting discerning travelers who demand the best.

Sustainability and Innovation:

Modern renovations such as the one the Venetian is planning often include upgrades that improve energy efficiency and sustainability. By investing in these areas, The Venetian not only enhances its appeal to eco-conscious travelers but also contributes to a more sustainable future.

In its commitment to evolution and innovation, The Venetian Resort earlier this year launched the Food Rescue Alliance, an unprecedented initiative aimed at repurposing surplus fresh food from catered events to support those experiencing food insecurity in the Las Vegas Valley.

This program, a collaboration between The Venetian Resort and The Just One Project, garnered significant praise from the White House during a February press briefing for The White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities by 2030.

The Food Rescue Alliance was one of only three programs highlighted by Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff during the event. Although The Venetian has been a leader in food rescue since 2014, this new partnership is expected to double the number of fresh meals donated to the community annually.

Conclusion

As The Venetian Resort Las Vegas celebrates its 25th anniversary, this monumental renovation project underscores its commitment to setting new standards in luxury hospitality.

With a legacy built on innovation and excellence, The Venetian is poised to continue captivating guests for many more years to come. Whether you’re a frequent visitor or planning your first trip, the new and improved Venetian promises an unforgettable experience in the heart of Las Vegas.
